Behind the scenes of our ski school

How we really prepare for the winter season

Many people think our winter starts with the first snowfall. In reality the work begins much earlier. With coffee, to do lists and lots of screws, shovels and gummy bears. Here we’ll show you everything we prepare so your ski holiday feels as relaxed and fun as possible.

1. Our team: reunions, new faces and small dramas

Before a single snowflake falls or anyone makes the first turn, everything revolves around people. Phones ring, messages fly back and forth and step by step our team comes together again. Familiar instructors return, new applicants show up and somewhere someone is definitely still looking for last year’s ski pass.

After a few weeks we know what the winter team looks like. Who’s back. Who’s joining for the first time. Who became a parent. Who is newly in love. And who can’t make it this season because studies or a new job take over.

The best part of this phase is watching colleagues become real friends over the season. Some even meet their partner for life. Others eventually create their own little ski school family and later bring their kids onto the slopes.

No matter who moves on after a season, we always celebrate the time we had. Many stay connected for years.

2. Accommodation Tetris for our instructors

Many of our instructors don’t live in the valley. That means finding rooms, arranging flats and staying calm. Sometimes it feels like a giant puzzle, but in the end everyone has a comfortable home for the season. And that’s what counts.

3. Shoveling sweating smiling

Once summer is over things really start. Our learning areas are built from scratch every year and the conveyor belts are fully assembled. It’s a real effort but by now we know every move by heart. When winter ends everything returns to summer mode and gets dismantled so the area stays clear.

When the first snowflakes fall the fine work begins. We clear the conveyor belts by hand while the mountain lift team prepares the entire slope with their machines. This teamwork creates the perfect conditions for everyone later on from first snowplow to confident parallel turns. A great example of how closely we work with the mountain lifts.

4. Equipment check: what survived the summer

Then comes the big what made it moment.
Some gear looks brand new.
Some looks like ibex and marmots had a wrestling match on top of it.

So we reorder:

Safety fences
Barriers
Poles
Small tools only instructors know

And because we have a new design this year we replace all banners, signs and marketing materials across the ski area. Yes there are more than you’d expect.

5. The gummy bear situation

Anyone who thinks gummy bears are only for kids has never seen an instructor after five hours in the cold.

Our bears:

Motivate kids
Have stopped hundreds of tears
And regularly bring energy back to our instructors

A true classic.

6. Meetings with the mountain lifts: all aligned

To keep things running smoothly we coordinate closely with the lift company.
When will grooming take place
Where will new learning areas be created
Who handles what so no one ends up in snow chaos

This cooperation is what keeps the ski operation strong and your experience noticeably smoother.

7. When the whole team shines for one evening

Our Show on Snow is a real highlight. Long before the first flakes appear in the valley we plan lights, music, timing and effects. Then come rehearsals and fine tuning. And yes at least once someone asks where the torches went. It’s part of the process.

But in the end it’s worth every bit of effort. When the snow stage lights up and the kids’ eyes shine we remember exactly why we do all this.

8. Our Snowsport Tirol Quality Award

We’ve held the Snowsport Tirol Quality Award for years and we’re part of a certified family ski region. For SEO fans this means:
Professional ski and snowboard instructors
Regular further training
Clear quality standards
Family friendly processes from A to Z

For everyone else it simply means we put in real effort. Every single winter. And we want to get a little better each year.

Conclusion: A ski season doesn´t build itself

There is far more behind a well organised ski school than meets the eye. Weeks of planning, hands on work in the snow, behind the scenes logistics and a team that pours its heart into it. All so your winter holiday becomes unforgettable.
